Story
While producing art fairs and music festivals in Southern California and Mexico, our founders met and realized they shared a passion for connecting people through unique art experiences. Inspired by their multi-cultural upbringing and a mutual desire to create art and experiences accessible to all. A lens of inclusivity is ingrained in their approach, not an afterthought. Reflecting the diversity of the United States, Public Art Company seeks to build a more diverse future one neighborhood at a time.
Originally from Tijuana, founder Karla Aguiñiga is an artist, curator, and educator working actively in the US and Mexico. Her curatorial work includes exhibitions and programming for the Hammer Museum, Craft Contemporary, and the Mexican Consulate of LA.
Founder Raffi Lehrer is a curator and producer born and raised in Los Angeles. For over 10 years, he has developed and produced large-scale installations, immersive exhibits, and cultural programming at events such as Art Basel, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and Design Miami.
When they aren’t scheming together on ways to bring art into unexpected places they can be found in LA tending to their plants and/or deciding on what to cook for dinner.
